Cádiz Car Hire

Cádiz is the perfect base for discovering the many places of interest to be found in this beautiful southwest corner of Andalucia. If you hire a car for some or all of your stay you'll be able to visit the historic cities of Seville, Córdoba and Granada, explore the unspoilt beaches of the Costa de la Luz and the mountain villages of the Andalucian hinterland.

Top of your list of day trips should be a visit to the ancient town of Ronda which is one of the most popular travel sights in southern Spain. It's 120 kilometres east of Cádiz at the heart of the mountainous Serrania de Ronda and just a short distance from some of Andalucia's most scenic nature reserves - the Sierra de las Nieves, the Grazalema Park and the cork forest of Los Alcornocales.

Ronda is famous as the birthplace of bullfighting (it boasts one of the oldest and most impressive bull rings in Spain) and for the spectacular bridge which spans the awe-inspiring 360-foot gorge which splits the town in two.

The densely forested region of Los Alcornocales is one of the world's largest cork forests. Each time you open a bottle of fine wine in Spain, the chances are its cork came from one of the trees of Alcornocales.

Stretching south of Cádiz lies the Costa de la Luz (Coast of Light) with its miles of wide, sandy beaches and sand dunes, ending at Tarifa, on the southernmost tip of mainland Europe. Tarifa is the windsurfing capital of Europe and from here and nearby Algeciras you can hop on a ferry or hydrofoil over to Morocco.

Visit the hotly disputed British-held rock of Gibraltar but be prepared for long delays at the bord
